COUNT YOUR MANY BLESSINGS
THIS IS JUST ONE OF THE MANY PEOPLE WE HELP AT OUR MISSION THAT COUNTS HIS BLESSINGS DAILY FOR THE FOOD AND SUPPLIES THAT GOD PROVIDES
Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me bless his holy name, not all His benefits who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your disease, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies who satisfies your soul and brings good things to your life.
“Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalms 103:1-5
In the chorus of an old hymn, Christians are told to count your blessing and name them 1 by 1. Count your many blessings see what God has done. Unfortunately most people today are remiss in counting their blessings. Sometimes when I am in deep prayer the spirit of God will teach me and say to me daughter, “Even Christians who are busy with everyday living they tend to pray and forget to give God thanks for all their blessings” They don’t take time to notice or even thank God for all their blessings.
The truth of the matter is we often spend more time talking about what we do not have instead of giving thanks to god for what we do have. All too often we are tempted to complain, we simply need to stop for a moment and remember everything god has done for us then we will see that we have a lot to be thankful for.
King David constantly gives thanks to the lord for all his goodness. He wrote many of the psalms in the darkest times of his life. Yet his passages continually express his thankfulness to the Lord. For example David wrote Psalms 103 after receiving God’s merciful intervention during a dangerous time in his life. In verse 2 of Psalms David reminds his soul, his mind, his will, and his emotions to forget not all the Lord’s benefits. Let us take heed and do the same and remind each other to not forget what God has done and look to his word in Psalms 103.
God is a God of beneficiaries. Five things to never forget
Benefit#1 God has forgiven or iniquities
Benefit#2 God heals all our disease (Matthew 8:2-3)
Benefit#3 God redeemed our life from destruction (Psalm 103:4)
Benefit#4 God crowned us with loving kindness and tender mercies
Benefit#5 God satisfies us with good things so that is our reward
FAITH IN ACTION
How do you remember to count your blessings? Here are a couple of pointers to help you to be mindful to be blessed by the Lord.
Stir yourself up to bless the Lord. During the times when you least feel like praising God your can stir yourself up and bless the Lord. Lift up your voice and thank God for everything he has done in your life. Have you ever noticed that dogs shake themselves to help them wake up from a deep sleep or nap? You need to shake your worries, concerns and fears, speak faith and begin to praise God. You need to make up your mind and concentrate on all the blessing of God.
Don’t allow your praise to be ritualistic. You may be in the habit of getting up early everyday and spending time with God but you actually seek the face of God to come into his presence with a fleshly attitude each time by saying exactly the same thing every day. You need to let your praise bubble up from deep within your heart. It’s the praise that comes from deep within your heart that counts. I pray that we as people of God can reach the destination of God by counting our blessings one by one.
