“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
One of the visions of Azusa Lighthouse Mission is the ministry of reconciliation. We understand that individuals and families living on Skid Row, or drifting through the community searching for direction and purpose for their lives, need to be reconciled with family members and God. With this knowledge, we are vigorous in providing opportunities to accomplish this very important purpose. Before people can proceed to reconcile with their families, they must first reconcile with God. Here are a few objects that are our focus as we endeavor to help and prepare them for reconciliation:
"Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.” Matthew 5:23-24
We understand that every man, woman, and family must be reconciled with God, become a disciple, and discover their God-given purpose. By committing their lives to God they receive the power to proceed and reconcile with their family members.
